A chimpanzee (or common chimpanzee) is an anthropoid ape that dwells in tropical forest areas of West and Central Africa. The chimpanzee shares 98.6% of its DNA with human beings, making it our closest living relative after bonobos and gorillas. Chimpanzees are one of the only two species (the other being humans) that can use a natural gait in a quadrupedal movement on two feet when on the ground, disproving the long-held belief that humans are the only species to do so.
